Australia has claimed the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup in emphatic fashion, rolling England convincingly in the final to secure the trophy.

They were the best team all tournament and they barely put a foot wrong in the decider at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

Healy scored a record 170 off 138 balls to set up Australia’s total of 5-356.

That’s the highest individual score in an ODI World Cup final ever, surpassing Adam Gilchrist’s 149 in 2007.

Healy received a standing ovation when she was finally dismissed.

“(Aussie captain) Meg Lanning is amazed at what has happened out in the middle – it must be something special,” Mel Jones said in commentary.

The cricket world was just as stunned as the players at the ground.

England never looked a realistic chance of chasing down the massive total.

Nat Sciver made it interesting with 148 not out, but they fell 71 runs short in the chase.

They lost opener Danni Wyatt early to a Megan Schutt in-swinger, and then young leg spinner Alana King went to work.

England great Nasser Hussain said King “bamboozled” England’s batters as she dismissed Sophia Dunkley, Heather Knight, and Katherine Brunt.

King also took a good high catch to dismiss Amy Jones.

“They have reinvented themselves into one of, if not the best team we’ve ever seen,” Jones said.

Nasser Hussain called them “probably the greatest women’s cricket side we have ever seen”.

For her efforts, Healy was later awarded player of the match and moreover player of the tournament as the competition’s leading run taker with 509 runs.
