If cricket has taught us anything in the past few weeks, it’s that the debate around ‘Mankad’ dismissals isn’t going away any time soon.
Just a few days after Adam Zampa tried to pull off the manoeuvre, Sixers veteran Dan Christian stopped during his run up and offered a warning to England international Stephen Eskinazi, who was a the non-striker’s end.
“That’s your warning mate,” the 39-year-old said as he walked back to the top of his mark.

Eskinazi shook his head is disbelief as commentators Mark Waugh and Brad Haddin defended the batter.
“Was he taking off early?” Waugh said on commentary.
“Unless he did it the ball before, it certainly didn’t look like he moved then.”
“I don’t reckon he was out of his crease, was he?”
Haddin agreed, although bowler Brendan Julian defended Christian, as did the replay.
“He’s well within his rights to say ’just giving you a warning’,” Julian said.
It didn’t matter for much, as the ball resulted in a wicket anyway – a slower delivery getting Andrew Tye to swing and miss as it shattered his stumps.
That left the Scorchers needing 17 from seven balls, Hayden Kerr coming on in the final over and closing things out as the home side held on to win by six runs.
The victory keeps the Sixers in touch with the table-topping Scorchers, who remain one point ahead with each side having three matches still to play.
