Dan Walker took the opportunity to react to the news that his show is hiring a new presenter. The BBC Breakfast host, who joined the lineup in 2016, attempted to assure the potential employee.

It comes after Richard Frediani, the editor of BBC Breakfast, took to Twitter to promote the new job opening, by posting the advert for the role complete with a photograph of four of the presenters including Dan.

The BBC editor penned: “Your chance to join the team at #BBCBreakfast at @MediaCityUK in Salford. We are looking for top class journalists to work on the UK’s No.1 morning show.”

The 44-year-old presenter took the opportunity to repost the job advert, in view of his 745,000 followers.

Dan assured potential candidates that the role is a lot “more fun” than it looked.

Dan has made clear that he has no intention of leaving the Breakfast sofa after he recently confirmed that his absence was due to a holiday.

Meanwhile, the presenter also took part in Strictly Come Dancing while he continued his regular day job at Salford studios.

He recently shared why he would be unable to take part in the dance tour which will kick off next week.

Taking to Instagram last month, Dan wrote: “ust to triple clarify… my decision not to do the #Strictly tour this year has nothing to do with the tiny minority of people who were miffed we were still in it.”

He continued: “I’m currently responding to some of the 8000+ kind, uplifting DMs/emails from lovely humans since Sunday. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. I’ll post some of them once I’ve been through them all. They are really touching.

“I can’t wait to take my family to watch the #Strictly tour this year but I sadly won’t be part of it.”

As for why he won’t be going on tour, he explained: “I have too many work commitments and I want to be at home after spending so much longer on the actual show than I ever expected. I’m sure it’ll be amazing – as usual.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am.
