Remember the iconic trailer that released back in 2014, but it never came to fruition. Do not stress anymore as the game has just been reannounced at Gamescom 2022. We had already heard new about this game releasing and also a speculated release date of February 3, 2023. This release date has now been confirmed with a first look of this highly anticipated title.
The announcement has been made at Gamescom 2022 along with a gameplay reveal for the title. The developers have also explained their reason for absence which was for developing an unforgettable experience for the players. Dead Island 2 is a first-person action RPG which is set in the Zombie Infested city of Los Angeles which has been dubbed as ‘HELL-A’.
In their time away, the developers have been working on providing the most immersive horror experience for the players which will be, ” in your face; close, visceral, and personal”. The developers have stated that the players should feel more like ‘thrivers’ than survivors in this title. Most of their attention has gone towards creating a very gory, and tactical first-person combat style, along with a great game world and a riveting narrative.
Visceral Combat is the main gameplay pillar for this title and the developers have put all their focus, energy and resources in creating their gruesome tech which has been codenamed FLESH or Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids. The players will of course have a deadly arsenal of upgradable melee and ranged weapons. There is also a skill system which will allow players to adopt a playstyle which they most comfortable in. Players will be able to slice, dice, roast, melt, bludgeon, break and dismember zombies in the most satisfying and stylish manner in the title.
As mentioned earlier the game will be set in the city of Los Angeles which has been overridden by Zombies and the player itself has been infected too, but is immune to it to a degree. Player will experience some powerful changes in their body due to the infection which will help them with just the edge they need to kill off these hordes of the undead. The setting will be ‘Paradise gone to hell’ where the players will be able to play at some of the iconic locations in the city such as the mansions at Bel-Air or the beaches at Venice and Santa Monica.

The official release date for Dead Island 2 has been set as February 3, 2022 and the platforms it will be available on are PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
