Dell Unveils Concept Nyx Game Controller That Serves as a Futuristic Replacement to Keyboard & Mouse

Back at CES 2022, Dell displayed what the future gaming experience might look like with the introduction of Concept Nyx. With Concept Nyx, Dell showcased how users can seamlessly change where and how they play their favorite video games. The new prototype allowed players to have a single system that offers connectivity to all your external monitors and TVs, which helped with interconnectivity. To tie it all up, the company also gave a sneak peek at a Concept Nyx Game Controller. This controller offered one of the best pick-and-play experiences for gamers.

A year later at CES 2023, Dell revealed more about Concept Nyx. Like the initial concept, the product lineup remains a concept which means it won’t go into production. Alongside a variety of new additions in the Concept Nyx Stylus and Spatial Camera, we also have a new Concept Nyx Game Controller.

Compared to last year’s design, the new Concept Nyx Game Controller looks much more like a traditional console controller. Instead of going with a crazy design featuring a ton of buttons, sensors and modular design, the new controller focuses on its task at hand of reimagining the “gaming experiences of the future.”

The USP of the controller is that it identifies the user and applies the preferred settings associated with that user for any game seamlessly. Dell is “experimenting with haptics and self-adjusting variable thumb sticks that can be tweaked to your preference or for the game you’re playing” as part of the new design.

Concept Nyx Game Controller also has shift buttons and scroll wheels for easy navigation along a touchpad for access to controls. It prevents gamers from having to go to check the in-game settings menus. Furthermore, it also has on-screen controls and overlays to highlight button mappings. It helps the player know what the X or Y buttons do in a particular game.

The Game Controller ties up the interconnected Concept Nyx ecosystem just like a server. For example, if you have been playing a game on a TV in your living room, you can continue the same game on a different TV by pointing the controller towards it. This level of interconnectivity is already seen on some platforms. However, Concept Nyx is the culmination of all the features that will allow gaming to be an uninterrupted experience across multiple devices.
