Demi Lovato is having a case of bad timing.

The singer revealed Wednesday in a TikTok that they suffered from a facial injury ahead of their “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” performance Thursday. To make matters worse, they had to get stitches.

Lovato used the viral “They Are Gonna Know” sound as they unveiled a gash above their eyebrow that was still bleeding. After the reveal, they mouthed an expletive.

“Guess who hit their head on a crystal and has to get stitches before Kimmel tomorrow???” the “Dancing With The Devil” singer captioned the clip.

They are supposed to perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” ahead of the release of their latest single “Substance,” dropping Friday. It’s unclear if they will debut the song during the late show appearance.

“Substance” is a part of their eighth album “Holy Fv–.” The project is set to debut Aug.19 and will be followed by their first international tour since their near-fatal overdose in 2018 halted the “Tell Me You Love Me” tour.

In a teaser of “Substance,” Lovato sings, “So, I ask myself, ‘Am I the only one looking for substance?’ / God I, it only left me lonely and loveless.”

“Don’t wanna end up in a casket, head full of maggots / Body full of jack (expletive), I get an abundance / Am I the only one looking for substance?” the song continues. The music video snippet also hints at the return of their “Don’t Forget”-era sound.

In the caption, they write that they’re over “the theatrics, what happened to classic?”

The song addresses Lovato’s history of addiction, something they’ve been very candid about since their near-fatal overdose in 2018.

In their 2021 YouTube docuseries, “Dancing With the Devil,” Lovato referred to themself as “California sober,” a controversial and somewhat fluid colloquialism to describe people who abstain from most substances. Lovato said at the time that they still consumed alcohol and used marijuana in moderation.

“I know I’m done with the stuff that’s going to kill me,” they said. “But swearing off alcohol and marijuana entirely is just setting myself up for failure.”

Months after the docuseries aired, they shared they are no longer “California sober.”

“I no longer support my ‘California sober’ ways,” Lovato wrote on Instagram Stories. “Sober sober is the only way to be.”
