Destiny 2 Patch Is Just A Test For A New Kind Of Hotfix

0

Destiny 2’s new patch contains nothing, as it is only a test to set up a new kind of hotfix.

This might seem like a pretext to sneak something hidden into the game or to set up some future event, but by all appearances, the patch is exactly what it claims to be. The post on the Destiny 2 website is barebones, stating that the patch is truly a test and that there are no hidden features or quests attached to it. The patch notes conclude with the words, “If you want to go hunting, feel free. Don’t come crying to us when you don’t find anything.”

When Forbes staff writer Paul Tassi expressed incredulity on Twitter, Bungie’s senior community manager Dylan Gafner replied, “Truly just a test. This was a clean window to ship as we didn’t have any events occurring. The actual patch note would be ‘Updated version number to 6.2.0.8.'” Sorry Easter egg hunters: this book’s cover seems to perfectly reveal its contents.

What hotfixes Bungie is current testing are unknown, though a fix for the Hunter Exotic Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk is coming later this October. Destiny 2’s previous patch addressed seasonal weapon crafting, fixing one of the Season of Plunder’s biggest issues. At the very least, this patch indicates that there plenty of future hotfixes to come and that Bungie is working on a new process for introducing and implementing them.

The full patch notes are below.
