Destiny 2’s Taken King Raid Might Be Returning

One of Destiny 2’s most iconic raids, King’s Fall, might be returning to the game, as hinted by the reputable data miner Josh Hunt. This leak comes prior to the new expansion showcase, which will take place on August 23rd, but no story spoiler-related information was shared.

King’s Fall was a raid introduced in the Destiny expansion, The Taken King. The raid took place in the large Dreadnaught Fortress, and the final boss of the raid was Oryx, the Taken King. It was one of the largest and longest raids in Destiny history and depended a lot on understanding the mechanics and sequences of the raid. Oryx, the Taken King is the father of Crota and Norkis. The latter pledged his service to Savathûn, the Witch-Queen of the Hive, which is the enemy of the currently ongoing expansion.

Earlier this year, Bungie has spoken with PC Gamer about the possibility of reprising one of Destiny 1’s raids into Destiny 2. They spoke about wanting to have multiple good reasons for fans to come back into the game, and that they intend to bring back a banger raid, one that goes well with the other stuff they will be adding, such as new dungeons and raids. So it helped to put expectations into perspective that it’s going to be one of the two biggest dungeons of the first game: either King’s Fall or Wrath of the Machine.

According to Josh, Season 18 will be named Season of the Plunder and will revolve around the fallen, a nomadic species that act as one of the primary antagonistic races in the destiny series. In addition, two new activities called Expeditions and Hideouts will be available. Another data miner named JpDeathBlade has revealed something in the game assets called Destiny free week, which might be a free expansion giveaway or limited access to the new content without needing to pay for it.

Destiny 2, Season 18 will start on Tuesday, 23rd August, shortly after the upcoming showcase. The season is supposed to include a reprised raid, two iron banners, a return of the Trials of Osiris and Grandmaster Nightfalls, in addition to the Festival of the Lost. Along with the new and old content, the season will bring numerous balance changes and reworks for many guns. The changes will affect both PVE and PVP. There are also a number of other balance changes that will occur in the middle of Season 18 and later in Season 19 as well.
