Diabetes type 2: Treatment for blood sugar includes curcumin supplementation

Blood glucose levels were measured at intervals from initial intake to 120 minutes.

What did the researchers find out?

Postprandial glucose concentrations were significantly lower in the curcumin (60.6 percent lower) and curcumin and fish oil group (51 percent lower) groups at 60 minutes after initial ingestion.

“Curcumin, but not fish oil, reduces postprandial glycaemic response and insulin demand for glucose control,” the researchers concluded.

How to take curcumin

Holland and Barrett explains: “Most supplements include black pepper, as the blood can’t effectively absorb curcumin without it.”
