Discord Voice Chat Coming To Xbox Consoles Soon

Discord is about to become more popular on Xbox as Microsoft reveals it will enable voice chat for the app on the new and old consoles.

In a surprising announcement today, Microsoft revealed that they have partnered with Discord to enable the voice chat feature for this popular communication application on Xbox consoles. The good news is you can start testing this new feature from today if you are an Xbox Insider. The full version of this feature will be available soon.

The Discord voice chat will allow Xbox users to create parties with players from other platforms such as Android and PC, which could be a quite welcoming feature for cross-play multiplayer games. The regular controllers and preferences like sound adjusting and other similar options will be available for Discord Voice Chat as well.

As Microsoft reveals, this is not going to replace the original Xbox Party Chat system, but it will be available as a new option for those who feel more comfortable on Discord.

Those who are already an Xbox Insider will spot a new option in the Parties & Chats tab on Xbox’s sidebar menu, allowing them to use Discord Voice Chat for communications. If you click on it, you will be shown a QR code. Now, you need a smartphone with both Discord and Xbox apps installed. Scan the QR code with the Discord app on mobile, which will lead you to a new page where you should link your Xbox account to your Discord profile.

Once you finish the process, you can start adding other players who have their Discord Voice Chat activated either on Xbox, PC, or Android.

Hopefully, the Discord Voice Chat will be available on both 8th-gen and 9th-gen Xbox consoles. If you are an insider, your Xbox has probably received a new system update by now, which adds this new functionality.

After testing this new option, make sure to report any bugs or technical issues to the Xbox team as your feedback. Microsoft will be sharing more news about the Discord Voice Chat system in the coming weeks.
