Dolphins vs South Sydney Rabbitohs results, kick off time, updates, Round 7 news, Phil Gould warns of Wayne Bennett ambush
Phil Gould has warned South Sydney is in for a classic Wayne Bennett ambush at Suncorp Stadium tonight.
Bennett coached the Rabbitohs for three seasons before handing the reins to Jason Demetriou in 2021, and now plots their downfall as coach of the Dolphins.
The expansion team is rated long odds to win tonight with bookmakers, but Gould says the Bunnies better be on their guard.
“The Bennett style of football and what he will take into this game, the simplicity of it, is the way to beat Rabbitohs,” Gould told Wide World of Sports’ Six Tackles with Gus podcast.
“If they can control the ball and control where South Sydney get the ball, then this is going to be a lot closer than people think.
“The Rabbitohs, when they get plenty of position, they have wind in their sails and they’re getting plenty of penalties can be an awesome team to try contain, because they have awesome strike power.
“But if you can get them into a grind, as a couple of teams have shown this season, and keep the ball away from them and control where they get the ball, then they are a completely different animal.
“That is Bennett football to a tee.”
