Former US president Donald Trump hasn’t volunteered a great deal of information about his health during his years in the spotlight, but his wellbeing has been scrutinised by public members and experts across the world. From Covid to high cholesterol, here is what we’ve gathered about the former leader’s health.
During his four years in office the former US president remained exceptionally discrete about any ailments, including his battle with COVID-19.
Donald Trump contracted the virus in 2020, making him one of several high-profile leaders to catch the virus at the outset of the pandemic.
He was treated at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and famously tweeted on his return to the White House that he was “feeling really good”.

Back in 2016, one of Trump’s former physicians even declared that Trump may well be the “healthiest individual ever to be elected for the presidency”.
Last year, however, the leader of the Republican Party made an off-handed comment about his health, which sent shockwaves through the US government.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Trump said: “You always have to talk about health. You look like you’re in good health, but tomorrow, you get a letter from a doctor saying come to see me again. That’s not good when they use the word again.”
The only time the former president released a letter from his personal doctor was in 2016, which summarised his latest physical exam.
The letter stated that the president was taking a cholesterol-lowering drug and was overweight, but nonetheless remained in “excellent physical health”.
In 2018, similar report was released by doctor Ronny L. Jackson, a rear admiral and the White House physician, suggesting that Mr.Trump was in “excellent” cardiac condition, despite having LDL cholesterol levels of 143.
Several medical experts in the cardiology field noted that the president’s LDL cholesterol levels were alarmingly high, given that he was taking 10 milligrams of Crestor, a powerful drug used to lower cholesterol.
