Although the Metascore of Elden Ring doesn’t reflect this at all, PC players are having a frustrating experience in Elden Ring due to severe stuttering issues and sudden frame drops.

PC Players Expressing Their Frustration Over Elden Ring Optimization on Reddit and Steam

Just a quick look at the Steam page of Elden Ring will convince you that things don’t look good for PC gamers. As some of the players have reported, they encounter major frame drops once they enter open-world areas in the game.

According to a Reddit user who runs Elden Ring on an RTX 3080-based PC, the game couldn’t even reach 60FPS at 1080p when standing idle. The moment the player moves, the frame rate drops to around 45, and when the screen gets a bit more crowded, it goes all the way down to below 30.

Some players wish for an FPS limiter on PC to let them at least lock the frame rate at 30 FPS and get rid of sudden changes in frame rate.

While the Day 1 patch was supposed to fix the stuttering issue, it seems like the problem is still there. So, it remains unknown how the game was running for reviewers even before that patch.

Elden Ring is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
