These run throughs become more exciting when the player does it with incredible speed. Some players have gained such proficiency that they use exploits and other loopholes to finish the game in unbelievable times.

Elden Ring speedruns have gained massive popularity recently, now this is a game that takes around 40-50 hours to complete, and was seemingly impossible to complete in one sitting, but players had to prove the developers wrong. The initial speedruns for the game took a couple hours to complete, which was still an immense challenge, but it seems like it has become child’s play for these players now. The latest and fastest speedrun for Elden Ring comes under 9 minutes.

The latest speedrun has been performed by Distortion2 and he has beaten the previous record holder which was himself at 12 minutes and 13 seconds. Distortion2’s latest record is off 8 minutes and 56 seconds, which is a new world record for the game. He streamed his entire playthrough and has uploaded the video on his youtube channel, which has been embedded below.

Interested viewers can see that Distortion2 uses a very peculiar exploit that allows him to complete the game at such speed. He refers to this exploit as ‘Zips’ or ‘Zipping’, which basically allows him to cover large distances in the world in a matter of seconds. He basically finds a suitable spots and starts using the block button, this block action has to be timed perfectly in order for the exploit to initiate. Viewers will be able to hear Distortion2 using sound cues to perform this perfectly timed exploit.

In the entire speedrun, Distortion2 has not been seen walking or fighting any sort of enemies, he only uses his mount to reach important chests to gather valuable items for his journey, other than that he just zips through the entire map. Distortion2 does not engage in any boss fight either, he just gets swiped my Maliketh once and gets destroyed by the last boss, Hoarah Loux and finishes the game. Distortion2 has promised to try an under 7 minutes speedrun too, and fans cannot wait for that.
