Elon Musk announces new tool for Twitter navigation: What is it, when it is coming and more

Elon Musk has been on a spree to ‘enhance’ the way Twitter works. He has updated some features (Twitter Blue), brought back some of them (view count) and introduced some new ones such as increasing the length of videos that can now be uploaded on the platform. In the latest update, Twitter has announced a new navigation feature that will arrive next month.
The feature aims at improving the surfing experience on the platform. “Twitter navigation coming in January that allows swiping to the side to switch between recommended & followed tweets, trends, topics, etc. Until then, tap the star icon on the upper right of the home screen to switch,” Musk said in a tweet.
While replying to a tweet, Musk also said that swiping across Lists will also be enabled.
“As we improve Twitter AI, recommended tweets, lists and topics will become awesome,” he noted, adding that it is good to switch back and forth.

Present navigation style
Twitter users can currently switch between two styles of feeds. They can tap/ click on the three stars on the top left to switch between two styles. In one style, users will be able to see all the top tweets and in the other, they will see the latest tweets first.
Once the new changes are implemented, users will be able to just swipe to change the style of feed.
Twitter Recommendations
Earlier this month, Twitter announced that it wants to “ensure everyone on Twitter sees the best content on the platform,” and for that, it expanded Recommendations to all users, “including those who may not have seen them in the past.” The move was aimed to fuel interactions on the social media platform.
Recommendations rely on Twitter algorithms to offer personalised suggestions to users to discover the conversations/ accounts that interest them the most. The suggestions will be offered on the basis of actions users take, such as like and share, on Twitter. “Based on these signals and more, we’ll show you content we think you’ll be interested in,” Twitter said.
