Elon Musk reportedly sent a companywide email to Twitter employees thanking them for working long hours since he took over on October 28. According to a report in CNBC, in an email Friday (November 12), Musk thanked employees who worked late Thursday (November 11) alongside him in Twitter’s offices and invited them to visit him in person to discuss the company’s future. The ‘thanks email’ comes just a day after Musk sent a company-wide email reversing Twitter’s previous “work from home forever” policy and asking them to mandatorily work 40 hours per week from office. The email also warned employees that the company may not survive the economic downturn without significant revenue and asked them to prepare for a “dire” economy.

Here’s the e-mail from Musk to Twitter employees thanking them for the long hours, as it appeared on CNBC.

Subj. Being There (great movie)
I was at Twitter HQ again until late into the night yesterday and would like to extend a note of appreciation to those who were there with me, as well as those working remotely, some of whom had been up even longer.
To reaffirm, working remotely is fine if you cannot reasonably make it to the office and you are performing at an exceptional level. That said, I am a big believer in the esprit de corps and effectiveness of being physically in the same location.
I will be in the office again today. Stop by the 10th floor if you’d like to talk about taking Twitter to the next level. The priority is near-term actions.
Thanks,
Elon
