The current world No 75 is one of several athletes receiving their MBE in Tuesday’s ceremony, with former Test cricketer Hugh Morris receiving an MBE for services to both cricket and charity, while former footballer Gary Bennett received an MBE for services to anti-racism in football.
Raducanu joins a list of other British tennis players to receive an honour, with Andy Murray being knighted in 2017 following his successful 2016 season that saw him win a second Wimbledon title, second Olympic gold medal and ascend to world No 1. Raducanu’s Billie Jean King Cup captain Anne Keothavong was awarded an MBE a year before the 20-year-old, while Murray, Tim Henman, Virginia Wade and Jamie Murray all have an OBE – one level higher than an MBE – and Sue Barker received a CBE in 2021.
