“If the Government became completely serious about getting 100 percent of people who had cavity walls, cavity wall insulation, and people who had lofts, loft insulation, we would make a huge dent in Britain’s bills permanently.”

The consumer expert warned that the Prime Minister’s recently announced energy price guarantee, which caps household bills at £2,500, is another reason insulation is the way forward to tackling energy bills.

This measure was introduced by Liz Truss last week in the House of Commons as her first step in policy to addressing the ongoing cost of living crisis.

However, concerns have been raised that this policy could end up being more costly to taxpayers at a later date.
