The Epic Games Store has revealed its free games for this week. You can get Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition and Evoland Legendary Edition from the store.

Fallout 3 and Evoland are available for free on the Epic Games Store until October 27, 8:30 PM IST.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

Bethesda Game Studios’ Fallout 3 came out in 2008 and is the first game in the Fallout series to use 3D graphics and real-time combat. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where every minute is a fight for survival. Since it’s the Game of the Year edition, the following add-on packs will also come with the base game: Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta.

Fallout 3 was met with critical acclaim when it came out. IGN awarded the game 9.6/10 in its review, writing: “It’s rare that a game can hit the mark in so many different and often conflicting areas. Fallout 3 offers freedom without sacrificing a focused story. It delivers fantastic combat without forgoing a deep role-playing system. The characters you meet are engaging and oftentimes hilarious without feeling out of place in this harsh world. The game has a few flaws — most of them technical — but it’s a case where the whole is greater than the sum. It’s a fantastic game with incredible atmosphere that offers fun in so many different ways that you’re almost sure to get hooked. This is one of the best games you’ll play this year.”

Fallout 3 never made it to India on the Xbox 360 platform because Microsoft didn’t release the game “in light of cultural sensitivities in India.” While it’s not known what exactly that means, players have speculated that the reason behind the ban could be because the game contains mutated cattle with two heads called Brahmins. We were able to claim the title for free from the Epic Games Store, however.

Evoland Legendary Edition

Evoland Legendary Edition is a bundle that contains two games, Evoland: A Short Story of Adventure Video Games Evolution and Evoland II: A Slight Case of Spacetime Continuum Disorder.

The first Evoland RPG by Shiro Games came out in 2013. It is heavily inspired by games such as The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy. The game’s concept revolve around the history of video games. You will start the game with rudimentary 2D graphics and progress through the evolution of gaming, as the graphics improve to 3D and HD.

Evoland 2 came out in 2015 and the two games were packaged together as the Legendary Edition in 2019. Claim the game for free from the Epic Games Store by clicking here.
