Everton takeover talks ‘advanced’ as Farhad Moshiri negotiates £400m deal to sell club | Football | Sport

Frank Lampard was backed in the summer transfer window with nine signings amounting to a spend of around £60m in total. The £25m spent on Amadou Onana was the biggest outlay on a single player. 

Lampard guided Everton to safety with a game to spare last season. The former Chelsea and England midfielder had replaced the unpopular Rafa Benitez in January.

Everton have won just one of their seven Premier League games so far this season, beating West Ham before the international break. However, four draws mean they sit in a relatively healthy 13th position. 

The Toffees travel to Southampton on Saturday. Lampard is likely to have goalkeeper Jordan Pickford fit for the game, with the goalkeeper having been ruled out of England’s recent internationals against Italy and Germany.
