Farhan Akhtar had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a role in Ms Marvel. He essays the role of Waleed, a leader of a vigilante group Red Daggers. Commenting on the same, Akhtar said that he was glad to become a part of a show that marks the debut of a Muslim superhero.
In a recent interview, he opened up about how the reason behind him joining Ms Marvel was for South Indian representation. He said, “People have been invested in the show. For us, it is really exciting because it is culturally representing us. It makes it very special. And that was the most exciting part for me being involved with the show.”
While his role is power-packed with action scenes, it has been questioned why the role wasn’t longer. To this, he said, “People must enjoy the show and they should enjoy Kamala’s journey. I think that’s what’s important.”
The actor also shared that he believes Ms Marvel will create more opportunities for similar shows centering around a Muslim protagonist. The actor added, “There has to be a first and it happens to be now. We should all be thankful that it is happening and we look forward to some more fun times.”
