KARAK CHAI
One of the most visited spot here in Doha is Katara. And one of the central attractions of Katara is the Chapati Karak shop. Whenever you go to this shop you will see people queueing up for their share of karak chai and chapati. Their cheese chapati and nutella chapati are in major demand. And now with the demand increasing every day, the local establishment has had to carve out a road where people can come and order from their cars without having to get down.

THE BIG BOOT
Another interesting thing in Katara is the big boot (top pic), which has been made by a Kerala artist using the same material that players use in their boots. It’s going up for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Record as the biggest football boot ever made. This is yet another contribution of the Indian diaspora here in Qatar and is a stand out attraction at the moment.

INDIAN FANS
If you go to any stadium here in Qatar, you will inevitably hear a lot of people speaking in Hindi. The Indian presence at this World Cup is very strong. In fact, statistics published by the Qatar establishment show that Indians constitute 9 per cent of the fans who have come for the World Cup. Saudi Arabia, which has a land border with Qatar, accounts for 11 per cent and sits at the top. India is in the second position followed by the US (7%).
