The name most royals share amongst the British Royal Family is Philip, after Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, although his real name was Philippos Andreou of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderberg-Glücksburg, Prince of Greece and Denmark. King Charles, whose full name is Charles Philip Arthur George, has his father’s name as well as Prince William, William Arthur Philip Louis, and James Viscount Severn, the son of Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who was named James Alexander Philip Theo.
Other royals who also have the name Philip are Princess Eugenie’s son, August Philip Hawke, and Mike and Zara Tindall’s son, Lucas Philip.
Lucas, however, was named after both his great-grandfather Prince Philip and Mike’s father Philip Tindall.
Kate and William, Prince and Princess of Wales didn’t use the name Philip for any of their children and opted for giving them three names instead of four.
It is not uncommon that Prince George and Prince Louis don’t have the name Philip as the young royals already have names associated with several family members.

In fact, Prince George and Prince Louis share the second most used name in the Royal Family: Louis.
Prince Edward, Edward Antony Richard Louis, and Prince William, William Arthur Philip Louis, also have the same name.
The third most used name in the British Royal Family is Arthur, a name often associated with kings. King Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis and Prince Louis Arthur Charles all share the name.
Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, also opted for the popular royal name for her first son: Arthur Michael William.
Other more unusual names but also favoured by royals are Alexander and Albert. James Viscount Severn, James Alexander Philip Theo, and Prince George Alexander Louis, both have the name.
Prince Andrew (Andrew Albert Christian Edward) was named after Queen Elizabeth’s father, George VI, whose real name was Albert Frederick Arthur George.
Interestingly, Prince Harry, whose real name is Henry Charles Albert David, was also given the name Albert but since he was born, he was called Harry and not Henry.
Princess Diana and the then Prince Charles announced that Henry would be known as Harry although Prince Henry would be his official title.

“When attending the Chelsea Flower Show in 2016, his wife Catherine was also overheard calling him Babe.
“Diana dubbed Harry GKH (Good King Harry) because she thought he would have been better equipped for the role as a future king. It was also used to make Harry feel that extra special,” he claimed.
“These nicknames are revealed in Spare and are completely new. Willy is pretty straightforward, but Harold is a mystery as Harry’s correct name is Henry. I suspect it was William just having a little bit of fun with Harry,” he told Marie Claire on behalf of Slingo.
