Who better than a flight attendant to give flyers the dos and don’ts of aviation travel? Former British Airways flight attendant Sam spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about what passengers should avoid during their flights.
It is important that passengers stay hydrated in the air because the humidity levels are so low, as well as the air pressure.
According to Flight FUD, “cabin air is dryer than the Sahara Desert- seriously”.
Indeed, passenger aircrafts typically have about 12 percent humidity, while the Sahara sees about 25 percent.
However, as necessary as it is that you stay hydrated on your next flight, Sam revealed there is one beverage passengers must absolutely avoid.

She told holidaymakers to “avoid drinking the tap water” on planes.
“The water tanks are not cleaned enough (if ever), there’s a reason we serve bottled water,” she explained.
Instead of drinking the tap water, passengers should purchase a water bottle at the airport or on the plane.
As for prepared, money savvy passengers, they can bring their own – “just ask the FA to fill it up”.

Another way to get served first is to choose your seats wisely, the insider claimed.
She advised: “Food is usually served from front of the cabin to the back. So, something to bear in mind when choosing your seats – top of the cabin is usually best for first service.”
According to the expert, there is one area of the plane passengers should avoid for fast service – the centre.
“On particularly busy flights food might be served from one trolley at the top and another trolley at the back”.
Sam’s final tip involved how flyers can secure some free goodies on board.
Holidaying is rarely a cheap experience, so passengers may as well save pennies where they can on the plane.
Sam said: “On long-haul flights (BA and most carriers) you don’t pay for any refreshments onboard, so feel free to ask for an extra coke/wine/bag of pretzels whenever you fancy.”
And while you’re at it, flight attendants have a bag full of items all forthe taking – “toothbrushes/paste, socks, eye masks and ear buds that you can ask for (free of charge)”.
