Skeleton Key is a new Austin-based studio from Wizards of the Coast that will be headed by Christian Dailey, the former Executive Producer behind Dragon Age Dreadwolf at BioWare.

Becoming the sixth game development studio of Wizards of the Coast in North America, Skeleton Key is supposed to focus on creating “immersive gameplay, unique stories, and thought-provoking moments of suspense and horror,” which could give you an idea of what you should probably expect from this new team.

For now, there is no official word on whether Skeleton Key’s project would be based on an existing Wizards of the Coast IP or deliver an independent experience from a brand new IP.

Currently, Skeleton Key has several open positions and the studio tries to fill them in as soon as possible. Skeleton Key is now looking for hiring new talents to fill in open positions such as Art Director, Design Director, Cinematics Director, Lead Tech Designer, and a number of other jobs at the studio.

There is no official window for when we can expect them to reveal their debut title, but it will definitely take some time. So, don’t expect any news from them anytime soon.

Christian Dailey, the Studio Head of Skeleton Key, has already worked for many years in the industry. Working as Lead Game Designer at Pandemic, the studio that brought us The Saboteur, as well as working for THQ as Game Director were some of his early and notable jobs in the industry.

Later on, Dailey joined EA and then moved to Blizzard for 4 years as Senior Site Operations Manager. He then returned to Electronic Arts and joined the BioWare team as an Executive Producer, working with both Anthem and Dragon Age Dreadwolf teams.

In March 2022, Christian Dailey announced that he decided to part ways with Electronic Arts, but he didn’t reveal anything about his future career. Now, he is the head of a new studio in Austin, Texas, and you can probably expect something unique and new from the veteran developer in the future.

Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, already owns the intellectual properties of Dungeons & Dragons as well as Magic The Gathering.
