Fortnite is about to be taken offline for server maintenance, as Epic Games releases update 22.00 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Android and Switch. The Chapter 3, Season 4 Fortnite update has been given a September 18 release date and a 7am BST UK launch time. If you’re wondering how long Fortnite will be offline for server maintenance, check out the details below for the full update 22.00 downtime schedule for Season 4.

If it’s anything like previous updates, then matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the game goes offline in full at 7am.

Once the game goes offline, fans will be able to download and install version 22.00, which is being dubbed the “Paradise” update. Epic Games also plans to release the Season 4 trailers once downtime begins (the trailer is embedded below).

It’s worth pointing out that the download size will be larger than usual, so you might want to set your console to auto-update if you want to jump in as soon as the game goes online.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter: “v22.00 releases on Sunday, September 18 with downtime beginning at 2 AM ET. We’ll provide another update when maintenance has concluded.

“Please note patch sizes will be larger than normal for all platforms.”

While there’s no official server downtime schedule, Fortnite maintenance typically lasts for a couple of hours. This means you should be able to jump back in between 9-10am BST.

While the download size will be much bigger than usual – and the downtime longer – the end result will be worth it.

A new season means a brand new Battle Pass, complete with a selection of shiny new skins, harvesting tools, gliders, backbling and lots more.

Judging by early Epic teasers, Spider-Gwen is tipped to be one of the headline new skins, alongside some sort of chrome outfit.

Epic Games will also make some big changes to the map, with new points of interest replacing existing locations.

Fans of competitive gaming will also be pleased to hear that Epic is revamping this side of the game, adding new tournaments with cash prizes.

Express Online will keep the section updated with all the new additions to Season 4, so stay tuned for more information.
