Fortnite is a live-service battle royale title that has taken the world by storm. They remain on top by providing new content constantly through updates. Over the years they have provided the players with unthinkable collaborations and other content partnerships. Most recently we saw the likes of Goku and gang enter Fortnite Island. We have also seen massive changes such as getting rid of the iconic building feature in Fortnite.

These type of changes take a lot of preparation and also take time to be implemented into the game. To implement these changes in proper fashion, many games go into downtime, where they are not accessible for a specific amount of time. These practices are generally found in live service titles. Fortnite Downtime usually occurs before an update, and it seems that it is in downtime at the moment.

We were notified by the Fortnite Status account that Fortnite will be facing downtime on October 4 at 4:00 ET to prepare for the upcoming update 22.10. For some reason, they release another tweet stating that they are facing an issue, for which the game will have to go into downtime earlier than expected. It has now been 12 hours since the game is in downtime and the players are getting restless.

Fortnite downtime usually lasts for a couple of hours, so its strange to the players that it has been in downtime for more than 12 hours this time around. What this tells us is that, either there is a persisting issue that could hamper the gameplay experience, so Fortnite is trying to remedy it, or they are preparing for a big reveal and that is why the longer downtime. We will know for when the game is back up and running as soon as the Fortnite Status account lets us know, till then the players will just have to sit tight.
