France star Aurelien Tchouameni hits back at ‘b******t’ England media after World Cup win | Football | Sport

France’s goal-scoring midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has launched a passionate attack on the English media for claiming Hugo Lloris was the weak link for Les Bleus after their nail-biting World Cup quarter-final victory over the Three Lions. Didier Deschamps’ world champions weathered a second-half storm to battle past their rivals from across the Channel to set-up a semi-final clash with Morocco next Wednesday.

But that only tells half of the story after Harry Kane scored and missed a penalty for England amid a mental battle of wits with Tottenham team-mate Lloris.

Tchouameni has now lauded his compatriot by insinuating that he was the difference for France after delivering a big performance in the face of criticism.

The Real Madrid maestro told reporters after the match: “Lloris the weak point of the Blues according to the English press? It’s b*******!

“There are always things that are said in the press, the most important thing is to respond on the ground, he did it today and we are happy to have him in our team.”

Kane struggled to hold back the tears after the full-time whistle as he was consoled by his team-mates and manager Gareth Southgate.

Kylian Mbappe, who is the top scorer at the World Cup, burst into laughter as Kane sent the ball over the bar. He was initially adamant that England should never have been awarded the penalty.

ITV pundit Eni Aluko suggested post-match that England should have considered preparing another penalty taker due to Kane’s club connection with Lloris.

“I don’t think you can underestimate the Kane missed penalty against his [Tottenham] team-mate,” Aluko said.

“I think it got into his head. Maybe England should have planned, there are so many lessons when you lose but maybe England should have planned.

“Obviously this game could have gone to penalties so I think that’s the fine margins. It looked like it got into Kane’s head shooting against his team-mate.

“You saw on the first penalty, he was pulling up his socks and he was really taking his time.

“Second penalty there I’m thinking ‘should someone else have taken it?'”
