Frank Lampard explains Chelsea homecoming after Todd Boehly confirms return | Football | Sport

Lampard’s first game back in charge will be a tough clash away to Wolves, incidentally the same opposition Tuchel faced in his first fixture after replacing the former England international. He inherits a squad seemingly low on confidence and sat 11th in the Premier League, with almost no chance of European qualification.

While Lampard oversees the first team, Boehly, Eghbali and the rest of the club’s hierarchy will recruit a permanent manager. The Chelsea board have reportedly spoken to several different candidates and are understood to be casting their net wide as part of a thorough search.

Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann are believed to be the favourite candidates. But Boehly and co. are reportedly weighing up speaking to former bosses Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.
