Frank Warren slams Gary Lineker’s ‘preaching’ comments and calls out hypocritical decision | Boxing | Sport
Frank Warren has torn into Gary Lineker for comparing the British government to Nazi Germany following the unveiling of the Illegal Migration Bill. The Queensbury Promotions chief has called out Lineker’s ‘hypocritical decision’ to present at the Qatar World Cup last year despite the country’s well-documented human rights issues.
Lineker is set to return to presenting sport on the BBC following a brief suspension for his comments and has come under immense scrutiny from certain public figures. One of those was Tyson Fury’s promoter Warren, who was ‘disgusted’ by Lineker’s remarks and has branded the BBC ‘a punch of p******’ for letting him back on the air.
“I have never heard such a disgusting comparison in his analogy that it is similar to Germany in the 1930s, which was Nazi Germany,” Warren told iFL TV. “What he hasn’t done is come and criticise the traffickers, the people who are trafficking these people who are making millions and millions out of poor people, some who are genuine asylum seekers and genuine refugees, but some are jumping on their boats and coming from countries that don’t even have any war going on in them and taking advantage of it.
“So how on earth can you compare us as a nation to them Gary Lineker? It’s just disgraceful and the BBC are a punch of p****** who just rolled over and allowed that to happen. He’s entitled to his views but they’re ill-informed views, it’s an ill-informed comparison.”
Warren then went on to call out Lineker for presenting at the Qatar World Cup which was shrouded in controversy. The Middle Eastern nation has a ban on homosexuality, while women have limited rights and need a male guardian’s approval to drive or leave the country.
Qatar also came under fire for the poor working conditions of those constructing stadiums for the tournament. The oil-rich country has admitted to 500 worker deaths but it’s been reported there have been thousands more. Lineker was extremely critical of the human rights issues and used his platform to publicly oppose them.

Yet Warren believes it is hypocritical to have taken money from a country that the footballing icon has openly condemned.
He added: “This is the fella who went to Qatar where they built the stadiums in Qatar and had the highly publicised problems about human rights, and he took the money and went out there and presented so we don’t need you to preach to us. You’ve got a platform and I don’t know if you’re an employee or a freelancer – I believe that is still to be determined.
“But whatever you are at the end of the get your facts straight. We’re not Nazi Germany, we’re Britain and in Britain, we are good people and whether you like it or not the illegal refugees that are here are being looked after they’re not being gassed, they’re not being worked to death. F*** him.”
