The astonishing aerial prowess of two AFL young guns was on display as Fremantle edged Port Adelaide in a gripping encounter on Sunday night.
The Dockers’ Hayden Young and Power’s Mitch Georgiades lodged mark of the year contenders in a Perth contest Fremantle won by eight points, 15.9 (99) to 14.7 (91).
Young sent the crowd delirious when he used Lachie Jones as a step ladder during the second term, planting his left knee on the Port Adelaide defender’s upper back and hauling down the Sherrin.

Port young gun takes a screamer
“Great grab!” Dwayne Russell said on the Fox Footy coverage.
“Got some hang time.”
Georgiades then pulled off an extraordinary grab when he climbed above Fremantle backman Brennan Cox in the third quarter.
Georgiades appeared to fly higher than Young as he dug his right knee into Cox’s upper back and gobbled the footy.
“Remarkable stuff!” Adam Papalia said on the Fox Footy broadcast.
“We’ve seen two enormous hangers.
“And Mitch Georgiades, a huge hanger. Just sitting up there for an eternity.”
Fremantle led Port Adelaide by 40 points late in the third quarter, but the Power slammed home four goals in succession to slash the margin to nine points.
Andrew Brayshaw, widely touted as the successor to captain Nat Fyfe, mowed down Port Adelaide forward Jeremy Finlayson to set up a pivotal goal late.
The gun midfielder also tallied 27 touches, including 10 contested possessions, and kicked a goal.
Fremantle has finished round 16 in fourth on the ladder, while Port Adelaide – who lost its first five games of the season – is sitting 12th.
Fremantle is set to meet St Kilda and Port Adelaide awaits a clash with GWS.
