April Fools Day is the day where everyone plays pranks on their friends, family and the people around. The point of the day is to get a good laugh out of it and distract from the mundane aspects of life. Surely enough, the gaming world is known for celebrating this day of pranks too. Like any other April 1st in the past, a bunch of announcements have surfaced on the internet from both game makers as well as gaming hardware companies celebrating this day of humor.

We have scrounged the internet to find some authentic and some bizarre pranks to highlight what creative minds across the globe crafted. Check out some of the best announcements from the gaming world on April Fools Day 2023 below:

Overwatch 2 brings Arcade Mode

Overwatch 2 wants the players to celebrate this day together as they “release” a new update that consists of an Arcade Mode. This new mode has made changes to all the heroes in the game. The good part is that all these changes are exclusive to the new mode.

Razer Razer Shaving Mouse

Razer’s topped it in the humour department as they announce the most bizarre gaming hardware. They revealed a product called “Razer Razer” describing it as “the world’s first shaving mouse powered by Razer Chroma RGB”. The trailer for the device claims that the mouse will help you bring your A-Game by achieving shaving speeds of 360 fps (follicles per second). They also had a Gillette inspired catchphrase at the end, “the best a gamer can get”.

SEGA gives The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog free on Steam

Players that are looking for free Sonic themed title, look no further, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is now free on Steam. This is a murder mystery title, where players will have to interrogate and interact with new and old characters to get to the root of the mystery. Figure out who killed Sonic the Hedgehog to win the game.

Among Us gets new Modes

Among Us developers have released two new modes including “Horse Wrangling Mode” and “Classic Horse Mode”. Seekers and Imposters will now embrace the Cowboy theme as they become ranchers with Cowboy themed animations and music. This mode is only available till April 2.

Indus BR in VR

Recently we got to see the alpha footage for this Made in India title by Pune-based studio SuperGaming. It showed us a glimpse of gameplay, in-game settings and more. Now we have received a brand-new announcement revealing that their title will get a VR port.

ROG Ally Handheld Console

ROG’s first handheld console has been announced and its called the ROG Ally. The company claims that this device will bring “true PC performance” to the players no matter where they are. They will be able to pick up and play from their gaming libraries on the go. This Windows based gaming handheld comes through partnership between ROG and AMD that brings the players the fastest AMD APU yet.

It also comes with a high-performance display with Full HD. The device is made by ROG Intelligent Cooling alloy and dual fans which are silent and perform well. The device can also be used to stream the games directly to your TV. Considering how plausable this looks like, we won’t be surprising if Asus ROG actually announces this later this year.

ASUS April Fools Day announcements

ASUS has announced a whole slew of products and features on April Fools day. First comes the Asus Hoverbook that will feature anti-gravity technology for dissipating heat. Then the ASUS ZenMaster, a laptop concept which will reduce stress and bring inner peace to users. Lastly, the ASUS Bodyguard is a literal bodyguard for your laptop. NZXT teases Graphics Cards

NZXT, the company known for bringing players some of the best custom-built PCs, has just teased an image of a white NZXT-branded graphics card with the caption “SOON”. This tweet comes as a reply to their tweet all the way back in September 2022 when they asked the fans, “What if NZXT made graphics cards?”.

MSI Energy Drink

MSI’s German Twitter account just released a trailer for an MSI energy drink that comes in two variants. The MSI energy drink will only be available until the stocks last.

AORUS Catmaster

We all know that AORUS knows how to keep your PC cool, but it seems they have a solution for your pet cats too. They have just announced the AORUS CatMaster, designed to provided your pet cats with proper ventilation through optimal airflow and RGB. The kickstarter for this project begins today.

PlayStation Japan twitter account has just announced a PlayStation University contest for players to enroll for. If they win, the player will be eligible for a “Blue Book Case” for their DualSense. Valorant just released a new trailer that showed Cypher’s Angry Side as the Agent is out for revenge this time around. To top the level of pranks, Riot also removed fake patch notes that created waves within the community. Riot sure knows how to make its players chuckle.
