Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse has officially announced that Version 2.7 has been delayed.
On April 29, Genshin Impact socials announced Version 2.7, which will add Yelan and Kuki Shinobu as playable characters, will be delayed. The statement did not officially cite it as a reason, but this is due to the Covid lockdown situation in Shanghai, where HoYoverse is initially based in. The situation in Shanghai has yet to improve, and reports and testimonies from the city’s inhabitants have been increasingly worrying.
Genshin Impact 2.7 Delay Officially Explained in New Statement
Genshin Impact develope HoYoverse explained the 2.7 Version update will be postponed to a later date, but did not give out a specific date yet. More details regarding what will be happening these next few days, most notably regarding compensation and if we will get another banner after the Ayaka rerun, will be detailed soon.
HoYoverse stated additional information will be coming as soon as possible, apologized to the player base for the delay, and asked for our continuous support.
What will Happen Now? Compensation and Banner Rerun Predictions
Seeing banners in Genshin Impact have been 3 weeks long recently, it’s likely the Version 2.7 update will be postponed for three weeks and another new banner will be running after Ayaka. Perhaps it will be a banner for one of the 5-star characters who were available at launch, similarly to the Keqing banner that happened back on Version 1.3.
As for compensation to the players, personally speaking, I’d say you should not expect any Primogems just in case we actually don’t get any, though I doubt this will happen. HoYoverse has been learning to better understand its fans.
Genshin Impact leaker Lumi has also reported it’s possible the delay will last 3 weeks.
