Gigabyte X399 AORUS Extreme Motherboard Officially Announced for 2nd-Gen Ryzen Threadripper 2000 WX CPUs

Gigabyte has announced its flagship X399 AORUS Extreme Motherboard at $520 US, the new Gigabyte X399 AORUS Extreme motherboard will be featuring full support for current and upcoming AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors which will feature a massive core count, with up to 32 cores and 64 threads; company is set to launch new product on August 9.

The new offering is a very high-end motherboard capable of using new additions to the AMD High-End Desktop platform. Appropriate aluminum fin-based heatsinks were first introduced by the company in X470 AORUS Gaming 7 motherboards which would gain extreme levels with the AORUS Extreme motherboard.

With the massive processor, it would require great power to keep the processor cool company has paid extra attention. In order to make cooling efficient big aluminium heatsinks on the VRM section have been provided. A copper heatpipe within would allow better dissipation of heat.

In terms of I/O, the Gigabyte X399 AORUS Extreme Motherboard comes with 6x SATA 3 ports for SATA storage devices and 3x M.2 slots for NVME SSDs all of which are covered with Gigabyte’s M.2 heatsink solution. There are several USB 3.0 ports, 1x USB 3.1 and 1x USB 3.1 Type C port and 3x Ethernet ports and an inbuilt wi-fi system for connectivity.

One of the most awaited processor is Ryzen Threadripper 2990X as we want to see its gaming performance and interesting because it is the first desktop processor featuring so many cores and is clocked at a massive 3.4 GHz base clock.

The immense power owned processor would come with eight reinforced DDR4 DIMM slots, four reinforced PCI Express x16 slots, three M.2 ports (each with its own heatspreader), two GbE LAN connectors and one 10Gb LAN connector, and a 10-phase VRM which should be great in overclocking and stability.
