Gold Coast Titans vs Wests Tigers results, kick off time, updates, Round four news, Payne Haas contract
Rugby league legend Andrew Johns is tipping a big-money move south for Brisbane behemoth Payne Haas.
Haas, 22, is one of the best front-rowers in the game, and recent speculation suggests he is hoping his next contract can be worth at least $1 million a season.
The hulking State of Origin forward is contracted to the Broncos until the end of 2024, and will be earning $800,000 from next season onwards unless the club gives him an upgrade.
Speaking on Wide World of Sports’ Freddy and the Eighth show, Johns and Brad Fittler were asked whether Haas is worth six figures.
“Yes,” Johns answered, while Fittler said “for sure”.
“They are pretty important,” Fittler said.
Johns agreed, and he reckons Haas could be headed south the Sydney, linking up with one of the biggest clubs in the competition.
“He plays massive minutes. I think there’s a club might need a front-rower, not far from here,” Johns suggested.
“Maybe the Roosters. I reckon he will end up at the Roosters.”
