Google Pixel starts “Night Tour” for astrophotography: All the details

Google has partnered with Japanese carrier SoftBank to organise a “Night Tour” event. Here, users will be allowed to visit a ticketed location and rent a Pixel for astrophotography in Japan. This event will begin on December 24 and will continue through the upcoming stargazing season which will end on March 26. The company didn’t make it clear which Pixel smartphone will be offered for customers on rent.
Google may allow visitors to rent the Pixel 7 Pro for astrophotography. Moreover, the company has also not detailed how these photos (which are expected to be in the gigabytes) will be transferred at the end of the night tour. The most ideal situation will be Google offering some Google Drive or Photos solutions for storing and transferring the photos to the visitors. This tour can be an effective way for Google to promote low-light photography on Pixel.

The site where Google will host the tour in Japan is the Achi Village in the Nagano Prefecture which is located at an altitude of 1,400 meters and requires taking a gondola ride that lasts 15 minutes. The company claims it to be “the best place for stargazing in Japan.” Google can replicate this event in other locations that are good for stargazing.

Average tickets for the tour start from $15 (nearly Rs 1,200) and offers different windowing periods. The location is already ticketed, but the first 100 customers can get a “special package plan”. This plan will allow users to rent Google Pixel smartphones, winter clothes, and a tripod for free to click pictures of the night sky.
