As the due date of the Google+ closure nears, a new advancement regarding Google’s Notifications Widget has come to light. Launched in the year 2011, along with Google+, the bell-shaped button in the upper right-hand edge of Google webpage was intended to notify users regarding activity on their social network. It was later expanded to incorporate Google Photos and Hangout. However, presently, a warning message states that this service shall be getting killed on March 7 this year. After 7 March, the Google navigation toolbar shall only include the profile display and settings such as the app launcher.
This is not too bad as users can still depend on the widget for Google Photos, Hangout, and Google+ enterprise because they can still turn on alerts by going to the settings of each application.
This widget shows up on the pages of different Google products such as Gmail, and it would enable users to find out notifications for Google services. But, in the coming month, one will have to depend on notifications for individual apps.
The message released by Google states that post March 7, the alerts for Google web-based items shall not be accessible via the navigation toolbar. In case the user wants to get similar alerts in the upcoming time, they may tweak their notification settings for each Google product.
