The sixth-placed horse is set to win £13,200, the seventh will win £6,800 and the eighth finisher will see connections collect £3,600. Although a small amount in comparison, those who own the ninth and tenth finishers may be pleased to learn that they will win £2,000 and £1,000 respectively, which is reasonable given the state of prize money on everyday meetings up and down the country.
Corach Rambler is the favourite for this year’s Grand National, following his victory in the Ultima Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last month. Speaking about her stable star’s chances, Lucinda Russell told Sky Sports: “I definitely think he has the qualities. He’s got the bravery and he has the desire to race and the will to win. It’s up to him and Derek (Fox, jockey) now to see if they take to the fences and keep out of trouble throughout the race.
“I think we saw at Cheltenham that he stays very well and he seems to travel really well as well. Although he gets sort of shuffled back sometimes, I thought he travelled much better this year than he did last year. That certainly gives you hope for Aintree.”
