The sequel to Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story was announced last year, and it looks like the excitement around the next instalment will now be revived. The upcoming sequel, titled Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, is set to take on yet another scandalous case. Its plot will revolve around the infamous Abdul Karim Telgi, a fruit seller who built a booming empire from the printing of counterfeit stamps. The showrunners have now revealed the first look in the form of a motion poster.

The first glimpse of Hansal Mehta’s Scam 2003: The Telgi Story is out, and it’s rather intriguing. The short clip introduces the lead star—veteran actor Gagan Dev Riar, who has several theatre credits to his name. The teaser sees the actor as Abdul Karim Telgi, and it’s set to what seems to be a new version of the Scam 1992 title track. It comes with a massive recall for the first series. Announcing the show, Hansal Mehta wrote, “Telgi has been found. Presenting the very talented Gagan Dev Riar as Abdul Telgi. #Scam2003.”

Take a look at the motion poster here:

Gagan Dev Riar looks impressively similar to Telgi and their likeness is garnering quite a bit of praise from eager fans.

Pratik Gandhi who shot to fame with Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, also shared the motion poster in a post captioned, “#scam2003 New scam new scamstar.”

Scam 2003: The Telgi Story is reportedly adapted from a book titled Reporter Ki Diary which is written by Sanjay Singh, the journalist who broke the story of the scam. Abdul Karim Telgi reportedly raked in Rs 20,000 crore with the scam. The upcoming show will be helmed by Hansal Mehta and Tushar Hiranandani.
