Back on track

After considerable mulling over which film to front next, Aamir Khan has finally decided to proceed with the remake of the 2018 Spanish hit, Campeones. Reportedly, he wanted to see how Laal Singh Chaddha, his adaptation of Forrest Gump fared. That’s why RS Prasanna’s directorial venture, initially slated to roll this month, was put on hold. Now, AK has not only made up his mind to go ahead with it, but has also allotted dates from January 2023. The pre-production work, which was halted in the interim, has resumed. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have been roped in to compose the soundtrack for the yet-untitled project. Currently on a holiday in the US, Aamir will get completely engrossed in the film as soon as he is back in the bay.

That’s some relief

Monday morning brought some consolation for Jacqueline Fernandez, who has been named as an accused by the ED in Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s R200 crore money laundering case. Also recently questioned by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police, the actor was granted interim bail by the Patiala House Court yesterday, subject to a bond of R50,000. Interestingly, she attended court in a lawyer’s black robe to avoid the media. The court has scheduled October 22 as the next date. Besides hearing Jacqueline’s arguments on her regular bail plea, the court will also scrutinise the documents during the next date.

It’s a girl for Ali, Alicia

Ali Abbas Zafar and wife Alicia became parents to baby girl recently. Sharing a picture of his pregnant wife, Ali wrote, “Alicia and I began our journey with love, which is beyond borders, colour and race. We are very fortunate that we found each other and got married. After almost after two years, we are thankful to Almighty Allah for blessing us with most beautiful gift of our life. She came in our life on September 24 at midnight 12:25. Please welcome our bundle of joy — Alija Zehra Zafar.”

Pizza bonding

Alia Bhatt, who is expecting her first child with actor-husband Ranbir Kapoor, recently experienced midnight craving for a pizza. She even asked her social media followers for recommendations. While we don’t know what she eventually settled for, Shilpa Shetty Kundra had a surprise for her on Sunday. The Nikamma actor sent specially made pizza to the Brahmāstra star, who apparently gorged on them. Sharing a picture of the treat on social media, Alia wrote, “Thank you my dearest Shilpa for this yummy, yummy pizza. Best I have eaten.” Re-sharing her post, the Indian Police Force actor said, “So glad you liked it. More coming soon. Enjoy, Alia.”

Thank the aces

During a recent promotional event of this Friday’s release, Ponniyin Selvan 1 (PS:1), Mani Ratnam shared that he had two Bollywood stars to thank for their special contribution. “One is Anil Kapoor, it’s his voice in the trailer. The other is Ajay Devgn, who has lent his voice to the film,” said the filmmaker. Interestingly, both Anil and Ajay have worked with the master filmmaker. While Anil played the lead in Mani’s directorial debut, Pallavi Anu Pallavi (1983) in Kannada, Ajay led the cast of Yuva (2004).

Triple treat

Vikrant Massey has reportedly been signed up for Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next directorial venture. Shooting for the yet-untitled psychological thriller is slated to start after Dussehra. The actor forays into an unexplored zone as he plays an unpredictable and crazy character. Vidhu is in the process of finalising his leading lady and the rest of the cast soon. Moreover, Vikrant is said to be in talks with Boman Irani for his directorial debut. Boman has written the script and will produce the film, too. Vikrant is also set to reunite with Taapsee Pannu and director Vinil Mathew for the sequel of Haseen Dilruba (2021).

Don’t shoot

Like in the case of films that are shot in public spaces, pictures and videos of Suriya’s next are also being shared on social media. However, Studio Green, the producers of the period drama, tentatively-titled Suriya 42, are not letting this pass. They have issued a statement, saying. “Every single work involves blood and sweat of the entire team. We want to gift the movie as a grand theatrical experience. It would be great if you delete/remove the published videos or pictures.  We would also like to inform that strict legal actions under ‘Copyright infringement’ will be taken against the ones who continue to do so (sic).”
