Anushka Sharma in Chakda Xpress
In her upcoming film Chakda Xpress, Anushka Sharma will play Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The movie depicts the inspirational journey of India’s most famous fast bowler, Jhulan Goswami. The film follows the highlights of Jhulan’s career, from convincing her parents and breaking stereotypes to her rise as one of India’s greatest female cricketers. The film is set to be released on OTT platforms in the second quarter of 2022.
Janhvi Kapoor in Mr and Mrs Mahi
Janhvi Kapoor is set to reunite with Rajkummar Rao in Mr & Mrs. Mahi, directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Karan Johar. The film is about cricket, and the Dhadak actor will play the role of an aspiring cricketer. While the makers haven’t revealed much about the plot, we do know that Mr. And Mrs. Mahi is a heartwarming story about cricketing aspirations.
Rasika Dugal in Spike
Rasika Dugal, who recently appeared in the second instalment of the hit series Mirzapur, leads the cast of Spike, a Hindi-language sports drama. The series, created by Nishtha Shailajan and Dhaval Shah, will feature Dugal as a volleyball coach. The actress has spent three months in Mumbai practising volleyball as part of her preparation for the role. We certainly have high expectations for this one, with such a powerhouse of talent on board.
Saiyami Kher in Ghoomer
Saiyami Kher, best known for her role in Breathe: Into The Shadows, will soon be seen in R. Balki’s Ghoomer as a cricketer. In this film, the actor will share screen time with Abhishek Bachchan, who will play her coach. Interestingly, Saiyami played school cricket for Maharashtra and was even selected for the National team. So we can expect her to nail the role of a cricketer!
Taapsee Pannu in Shabaash Mithu
Taapsee Pannu is set to return to the big screen as Mithali Raj, former captain of the Indian women’s national cricket team, in Shabaash Mithu, Mithali Raj’s official biopic. Mithali Raj is known for her record-breaking 23-year international cricket career, scoring over 10,000 runs in ODIs. The film chronicles her journey to becoming a legendary cricketer and an inspiration to billions of girls and women worldwide. It appears to be a rousing sports drama based on what we see in the trailer, which was released today.
