On the PC platform, Hitman 3 was originally exclusively launched on the Epic Games Store and stayed that way for about a year. Then, I/O Interactive, the developers of the game, decided to bring it to the Steam platform at the same price at which they had first made it available on Epic Games Store, much to the consternation of players on Steam.
The game has received overall mixed reviews on Steam and the developers have tried a new way to amend the lacklustre launch of their trilogy topper by releasing free upgrades to all the Hitman 3 copies purchased on Steam till February 19, 2022. This means that the standard editions of Hitman 3 will get updated to the deluxe editions for free and the deluxe editions and trilogy copies will get converted into the Seven Deadly Sins Collection for free too.
The Deluxe Edition adds the following new content to the base game: Deluxe Escalation Contracts, deluxe suits and items, digital soundtrack, digital “World of HITMAN” book and director commentary (Mission Introduction).
“Our HITMAN 3 launch on Steam didn’t go as planned. We were excited to bring HITMAN 3 to Steam with new content and we knew that anticipation and excitement levels amongst our Steam players was high, especially as the game had been an Epic exclusive for a year. Ultimately, we didn’t meet our own expectations of a launch experience and we don’t like that our Steam community is beginning their HITMAN 3 journey in this way.”, said the developers in a post on Steam, following it with the free upgrade announcement.
The rollout of the upgrades has begun and if you have a copy of Hitman 3 or the trilogy, you just need to launch it to see the new content from the free upgrade.
