HomePass for HomeKit app receives Matter accessory setup code support

Apple has a dedicated HomePass app that stores all the setup codes for HomeKit accessories and devices. The app was first introduced in 2018 and since then, several new features have been added to it. Now, Apple is rolling out a new update that finally brings Matter support to the app.
What this means, is after the update, HomePass will let users store setup codes for Matter devices alongside the HomeKit devices.
HomePass app gets Matter support
HomePass app update is now rolling out and users will be able to update the app via Apple App Store. For those unaware, Matter is a new standard for smart home devices supported by Apple, Amazon and Google and it makes it easier to connect smart home devices on different platforms. This means it does not require users to stick to one platform or buy accessories that support their existing platform only.
Apple added matter support to its platform with iOS 16.1. Post which all the other smart home devices with matter support will be able to connect to Apple Homekit platform irrespective of the fact whether they support it natively or not.

How to update HomePass app using App Store
HomePass is a regular app in App Store. The update is now available and to update it all you need to do is head to Apple App Store. Tap on the search icon at the bottom of the App Store and type HomePass.
From the search result, look for HomePass for HomeKit app and tap on it. Then, tap on Update button to start the download process.
