Twitter offers users the ability to customise, organise, and prioritise tweets they see in their timeline with the help of the Lists feature. Users have the option of joining Lists that have already been created by other users on Twitter, or they can create their own Lists of other accounts by group, topic, or interest.
When you view a List’s timeline, tweets from only the accounts on that list are displayed. Additionally, users can add their favourite Lists to their home timeline (pinning) so that they never miss a tweet from the accounts that are most important to them. - Open your Twitter account on your computer.
- Click on the left panel of the home screen and click Lists.
- Click on the plus (+) icon available at top right.
- Add a short description and the name of your list.
- Check the Make private box if you want to make the list private and click Next
- Next up, click the names of the users you want to add to your list. The names of the people you’ve chosen will be displayed on top, and you’ll see a checkmark next to them.
- Click Done and the list is ready.
- You can edit your list at any time by returning to the Lists tab, choosing the list you want to change, and selecting
Edit List .
Creating Twitter Lists on mobile device
- Open the Twitter app on your phone.
- Go to your Twitter profile and select the Lists option from the menu.
- Tap on the plus (+) icon available in the bottom-right corner.
- Give a name and a brief description to your List. Turn on the Private option toggle (in
iOS ) or select the Private checkbox (inAndroid ) if you want to make the list private. - Tap on the Save or Create button on your Android or iOS device, respectively.
- You can search for users right away on iOS and select the Add option from the menu to add them to your List.
- Meanwhile, on Android, you will be returned to the Lists page. To add users to your list, go to a person’s profile page and tap on the three-dot menu available in the upper right corner.
- Select the Add to List option.
- If you have multiple Lists, you can then choose which one to add them to.
- Editing Lists: You can go back to the Lists tab to edit your list at any time. Select the list on iOS, then select Edit List. While on Android, select the list, then click the three-dot menu available in the upper right corner and then select the Edit List option.
How to join a Twitter List
If someone has made their Twitter Lists public, you can view them and subscribe to them.
Just tap on the three-dot menu button available in the top-right corner of another user’s profile and choose View Lists to view their Lists.
