End the village fight early

The Resident Evil 4 remake has a ton of little details that fans of the original will love, but this one really shocked me, and has some neat little implications for the village encounter early in the game. Light spoilers follow for one of the most iconic moments in RE4.

Snipe the bell yourself in the village, and the townsfolk will shuffle off

A hat tip to Twitter user Denzel (who credits Reddit users Sorekasho and Tactical_Banter) for sharing this little tidbit, which is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in the Resident Evil 4 remake thus far.

If you climb up on a rooftop in the village fight, you can snipe the bell that rings later in the encounter to signal its end. Hitting it early like this will immediately stop the fight, saving you tons of resources in the process. Note that this is ostensibly reserved for NG+ (New Game+) runs, as you will not have access to a rifle with a scope at this point in the game.

To do it yourself, just head into the building that triggers the chainsaw guy cutscene, and dive out of the window on the right at the top of the stairs. Then aim at the bell (we have a clear screenshot in the gallery above, which is behind some trees) and snipe it. Look for the weathervane on top of the building to center yourself. Done!

We tried it ourselves (as you can see in the gallery above) and yep: it works! It even can be triggered in Professional mode, mind. You’re then free to loot the village entirely afterward and save a ton of resources.
