As the cost-of-living crisis intensifies, parents will be finding it difficult this year to pay for their children’s Christmas presents. However, there are some shops offering toys, books, and other potential gifts for just pennies.
One mother, called Rachel Hutchinson, or @rachmariex, on TikTok, has shared her top tips on how to get bargains at British shops this Christmas.
Rachel posts videos on her TikTok to help other parents to afford Christmas presents for their children.
Shops like B&M and Home Bargains are full of affordable gems, but Rachel revealed other shops that many people seem to walk past and ignore: charity shops.
The savvy mum went on a charity shop haul, and her cheapest gift cost just 49p.

Rachel goes charity shopping often and has shared many videos demonstrating her hauls to viewers.
In her most recent video, she showed how she found a Disney Princess make-up box for £2.49 – “an absolute steal”.
She also bought a fur bucket hat, two colourful gel pens, a tartan skirt, and a £4.99 Zara bodywarmer, amongst other items.
Rachel showed viewers other products on sale at Age UK too, such as tiny succulent plants, fur slippers, black Chelsea boots, a TV, and a good selection of children’s clothes.
