Shot over 18 months from early 2020, director David France follows Science magazine reporter Jon Cohen as he gets to grips with Operation Warp Speed.
Cohen could do better at explaining both the political machinations and the science but he provides an access-allareas pass (as much as anyone could in a lockdown) to most of the big players.
While the dedication of the scientists is inspiring, the film is far from rousing. The second half details how the boffins’ dreams for mass global vaccinations were scotched by conspiracy theorists and politicians.
