Finally, some Invincible news!

In a new teaser featuring Mark Grayson and Allen the Alien chatting at a Burger Mart diner, Prime Video announced that the series is set to return for its second season in late 2023.

“What have you been up to? It’s been awhile,” Allen says to Mark. “I think everyone agrees it’s been, like, a little ridiculous how long it’s been.”

“I’ve been busy writing, designing, storyboarding, voice acting, key posing, in-betweening, cleaning up, color slapping, comping the whole thing, and all that for, you know, roughly thousands of shots,” Mark replies. “So, it’s kind of a lot.”

Fair enough, I suppose.

The adult animated superhero show, an adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s long-spanning comic book series, follows 17-year-old Mark, AKA Invincible. As the son of the world’s most powerful superhero Omni-Man, Mark has a lot on his shoulders — especially when he finds out that his dad may not be as good as he seems.

Mark is voiced by Steven Yeun, and his extraterrestrial pal Allen is voiced by Seth Rogen. Other members of the cast include J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Zachary Quinto, Mahershala Ali and many others.

The show first premiered in March 2021, and Prime Video renewed it for two more seasons just a day before the Season 1 finale dropped on the streamer.

“I’m extremely thankful to Amazon for the support and dedication they’ve put behind Invincible,” Kirkman, who is also the creator of The Walking Dead, previously said in a press release. “The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory (Walker) and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series. We’re beyond excited to continue this story for at least two more seasons.”

Season 1 received an 8/10 from IGN, with Siddhant Adlakha writing: “the show combines familiar superhero tropes with unexpected gore and moving character dynamics, resulting in the year’s most surprising superhero series.”
