ipl: IPL opening Gujarat Titans vs CSK match was watched by 130 million viewers on TV: Disney Star
Quoting BARC data for 2+ age groups, urban + rural audiences, the network said that 140 million viewers tuned in for the live broadcast on opening day, including the opening ceremony.
The broadcaster, which is airing the matches on 22+ channels, has clocked a total of 8.7 billion minutes of consumption on TV for the opening match. It added that consumption had grown 47% compared to last year.
The reach of Star Sports is believed to have touched 90% of the pay-TV universe for IPL 2023, compared to 80% during the previous season of the tournament.

Earlier, Viacom18 had announced that the opening IPL match was streamed by over 6 crore unique viewers. The match also had a peak concurrency of over 1.6 crores on JioCinema.
It also stated that the total match views on Day 1 on JioCinema touched 50 crores.JioCinema, which is streaming the IPL for free, had registered over 2.5 crore downloads. This, the company stated, is a record for the most installed app in a single day.
