Is Riot working on Valorant for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms?

Valorant is one of the most played FPS games, with over 1 million users playing each month. However, it is currently only available on PC, specifically on Windows. Due to their success, we already know that Riot is working to launch Valorant for Mobile devices as well.

For almost two years after it has been released, Valorant has been limited to the PC platform. However, that might change, as Riot might be developing a console port of the title alongside the already confirmed mobile port.

Quite recently, two interesting job listings were spotted on the Riot recruitment portal: both offer the position of “Senior Game Designer, Console – Valorant,” with one based out of Los Angeles, California, and the other at Bellevue, Washington, both in the USA.

At the moment, Valorant is not available for any PlayStation Nintendo or Xbox consoles. But based on this development, Riot looks like they are trying to make their move into the console world.

With the modern generation of consoles and PC players not being separated by high barriers, which are accelerated by features like cross-play, mouse and keyboard support, and target framerate of 120 FPS (necessary for such a competitive title), bringing one of PC’s most-played competitive title to the console would be amazing.

However, lots of fans are concerned about the potential cross-play feature between console and PC users, citing that PC users will have unfair advantages such as better screen refresh rates, higher accuracy (Mouse and Keyboard vs. the Controller), an Aim-Assist module, etc. Riot values its competitive integrity for the title, so no doubt the devs would try to provide an even playing field for users on both sides of the technological divide and we likely won’t experience PC/Console platform cross-play in the Competitive game context.

While Valorant was developed for PCs, understanding and developing solutions to the keyboard-mouse control scheme is key to designing, with the evolving gaming platforms bringing the player bases closer to one another, a console port could become super popular and fun.
